Beech Hill Farm, Hopkinton, NH

For residents of the greater Concord area, Beech Hill Farm in the nearby town of Hopkinton is a Summer/Fall tradition. Beech Hill, known to my kids as the "ice cream farm," offers quite possibly the best ice cream experience in the state of New Hampshire. Not only is the ice cream fantastic (they serve over 75 flavors of ice cream and other frozen treats), but the farm offers tons of great activities for the little ones. Among the favorites for my kids are the animals (horses, cows, peacocks, goats, pigs, bunnies), the giant sand pit with assorted digging toys, the hiking trails, the rocks (great for little climbers) and the corn mazes (which generally open in August). For adults, there are also assorted potted plants for sale in the Gardener's Barn, rustic furniture and various foodstuffs in the ice cream house, as well as assorted musical events held throughout the summer.

Having visited Beech Hill each of the past two days for ice cream, saying that it's a personal favorite would be an understatement. In fact, a fellow dad and I managed to spend over three hours at Beech Hill this afternoon with our combined 4 children (all 5 and under), so it's a great place to spend some time with the kids on a nice summer day. For more information, visit the Beech Hill Farm website.
